Reynold Joseph Thomas

It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Reynold Joseph Thomas, a cherished husband and respected member of the community, who departed this life on August 20, 2026, at the age of 72. Reynold was born on March 7, 1954, in Port-of-Spain, Trinidad and Tobago, and eventually made his home in Lubbock, Texas, where he lived with grace and purpose. Reynold earned a Master's Degree in Business Administration from Texas Tech University in 1999 and dedicated his professional life to his work in accounting, embodying the meticulous nature of the profession with integrity and passion and he earned the respect and admiration of his colleagues and clients alike. In addition to his career in accounting, Reynold proudly served his country as a member of the United States Air Force from July 23, 1976, until his honorable discharge on June 22, 1982, achieving the rank of Sergeant. At Reese Air Force Base he was trained as a weather observer and administration clerk.His time in the military instilled values of discipline, respect, and service that he carried with him throughout his life. He was also employed by the US Postal Service for 26 years and retired at the Singer Station. He then worked as an Accountant Associate with Barbara Frankhouser, CPA for 10 years. Reynold is survived by his loving wife, Sherell Guichard-Thomas, who was his steadfast partner through thick and thin. Their bond was a shining example of love and devotion, one that inspired those who knew them. Survivors include his brother, Ralph Thomas; brother, David Thomas; sister Theresa Bryant and brother-in-law, James Bryant; brother Ralph Thomas and children, Tamika Florez, Errol Thomas and Courtney Thomas; brother David Thomas and children, Daniella Thomas and Elijah Thomas; sister, Theresa Bryant and children, Melissa Bryant, Natasha Bryant and Danielle Bryant; Goddaughter, Jo Avis Green. Memorial service will be held on Wednesday, August 26, 2026 in Sanders Memorial Chapel. His family will visit with friends before and following his memorial celebration. As we reflect upon Reynold's life, we remember not only his accomplishments but also his warm spirit, generosity, and the kindness he extended to all. He was a true friend, a guiding light to so many, and his legacy will live on in the hearts of those who were fortunate to know him. Reynold was preceded in death his parents, Errol and Eileen Thomas; Goddaughter, Brandi Green. In lieu of flowers donate to the Lubbock Roots Historical Arts Council, Inc. which was a charitable organization that he strongly supported.
