Rowena Walker

Rowena Grisham Walker, 92, passed away on Friday, September 15, 2017 at Carriage Inn in Bryan, Texas. Visitation will be from 6:30 to 8:00 p.m. Monday, September 18, at Sanders Funeral Home in Lubbock, Texas. Funeral services are set for 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, September 19 at Sanders Funeral Chapel. Interment will follow at the Lubbock Cemetery. A memorial service will also be held on Sunday, September 24 at 3 p.m. at Bethel Baptist Church in College Station, Texas. Rowena was born December 21, 1924 in Lubbock, Texas, the daughter of James Omar (Jake) and Lola Williams Grisham. She graduated from Texas Tech University in 1949. Rowena married Tullus Vaughn (Tully) Walker on June 30, 1947. She was office manager for Walker Insurance Agency for 40 years where she worked with her husband, Tullus Vaughn Walker. She was a lifelong member of First Baptist Church of Lubbock, Texas until moving to College Station in 2009. She was a member and served as Past Worthy Matron of Eastern Star Lubbock Chapter #76. During her time in College Station, she was an active member of Bethel Baptist Church. Rowena was a vibrant, social person who enjoyed meeting and getting to know people on a personald level. She had a deep and abiding faith in Jesus Christ which she frequently shared with others. Rowena was preceded in death by her husband, Tullus Vaughn Walker, her parents, and her siblings, J.O. Grisham, James Grisham and Lavenia Christine “Snooks” Richardson. She is survived by her son Michael B. Walker and his wife, Jeanette of Southlake, Texas and daughter Sandra K. Strong and her husband, Clyde B. Strong Jr. of Bryan, Texas; grandchildren Brandon Walker and wife Lauren, Whitney Warnes and husband Nick, Kelsey Shrell and husband Dustin, Stephen Tullus Strong and wife Tiffany; great grandchildren Stephen Tullus Strong, Jr., Tyson Lucas Strong, Kay Lynn Shrell and Silas Allen Strong, Landry Hayden Walker and Grayson Vaughn Walker, as well as numberous loving nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews. Rowena will be greatly missed by her family and friends. Memorials may be made to Bethel Baptist Church of College Station , the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association, or the charity of choice.
