Dr. Sharon Ann McIntire

Dr. Sharon Ann McIntire, a beloved mother, grandmother, great grandmother and child of her living Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, passed away peacefully from natural causes on April 12, 2026, at the age of 83. Born on November 27, 1942, in Slaton, Texas, Sharon lived a life marked by resilience, love, and unwavering commitment to her family and community. A proud graduate of Monterey High School in 1961, Sharon further pursued her education, earning her Bachelor's, Master's, and PhD degrees. Her dedication to learning complemented her professional journey as a mental health worker at MHMR-Lubbock, where she served as a Case Manager, caring deeply for the well-being of her clients. Her passion for mental health advocacy inspired many and left a lasting impact on those around her. Sharon was also a devoted Air Force spouse, proudly supporting her husband as he bravely flew over 300 missions during the Vietnam War. Their family's journey took them around the world, with memorable years spent in Spain, Japan, the Philippines, and Germany, before returning to Texas. They settled in Lubbock in 1979, where she resumed her life-long membership at the First Christian Church. A go-getter at heart, Sharon had an adventurous spirit. She enjoyed shopping and even took flying lessons, an expression of her zest for life and desire to embrace new experiences. However, her greatest joy came from spending time with her family, including her son, Rob McIntire, and daughter-in-law Tina McIntire, and her other son, Michael-Jay McIntire, and daughter-in-law Ebba McIntire, and her cherished grandchildren: Mike, Kaitlyn, Sean, Jake, and Scott. She was also a proud great-grandmother to Meredith, Miller, Maeve, and William, who brought her immeasurable happiness. Sharon's spirit will be honored at a memorial service to be held at Sanders Memorial Chapel on April 25, 2026, at 10:30 AM. Following the service, Sharon will be cremated, and her loved ones will cherish her memory as they gather to celebrate her remarkable life. In the tapestry of life that Sharon wove, her love for her family and her commitment to service will continue to resonate in the hearts of all who knew her. She will be deeply missed but lovingly remembered. Sharon was preceded in death by her husband, Robert "Bob" McIntire; her parents, Truman and Mildred Shelton and her brother, Michael Shelton.
