Travis Ashford Simpson

Travis Ashford Simpson January 19, 1959 - October 31,2023 Travis Simpson was very suddenly called to his heavenly home on October 31,2023. Travis was born on Johnson AFB, near Tokyo, Japan. As a child, he traveled throughout the US with his Air Force family, with a final stop in Lubbock, Texas, where he attended Monterey High School, graduating in 1977. He attended Texas Tech University where he received his BS in Electrical Engineering in 1981. Travis was known as a man of faith and family, integrity, a leader, possessing a great sense of humor and always being up for an adventure. He was a committed Red Raider, an avid golfer, a reader, and lifelong learner. He gave his best to whatever work he did. But his heart was in his Christian faith, his beloved family, and with his dear friends. Travis fought the good fight. He finished his race. He kept the faith. His career was wide and varied; from the oil fields of Monahans, Texas, then GE Medical Systems of Houston, Milwaukee, and Nashville. He became a Vice President at Dell in Austin and oversaw the building of the most technically advanced factory in North Carolina. He struck out on his own with a startup called Extend Energy, then accepted a position as a Vice President for Republic Waste and finally with ProEnergy in Missouri. He was fortunate to retire early and return to his beloved family home in Lubbock, Texas. Travis' accomplishments were numerous, but his designation as "Distinguished Engineer" by Whitacre College of Engineering at Texas Tech was among his favorites. Those left behind to cherish Travis' memory are his beloved wife, Carol (Mathews) Simpson; his daughter, Courtney (husband Zach); son, Russell; and the joy of his later years, his 2 grandsons, Kayden and Kendrick; his sisters, Vicki Sweetman, Leslie Olson (husband Larry); his brother, Scott Simpson (wife Milagros) along with all his nieces and nephews; his dearest childhood friend, Scott Fanning (Edie) and countless other friends. Travis would remind us of Hebrews 11:1, "Now faith is being sure of what we hope for and certain of what we do not see." We know we will be together again. Visitation will be held at Sanders Funeral Home, Friday, November 10th, anytime between 7pm - 9pm. A Celebration of Life service will be held at Hope Lutheran Church, Saturday, November 11th, at 10am with a luncheon to follow.
